You disagree? Typical explanations for why people SAH are things like "I want to be there for the milestones;" "I would miss my child;" "Only I can do X right for my child" etc. Most of them are about mom and what she wants, not about the kid. So far, I have not seen any credible reason, other than cases of special needs, for why it would be in a child's best interest to have mom at home all day.
really? you must have not paid attentino to the posts where Lauren or Chris or I talked about some of our children's problems -- none of our children are perfect but we also recognize that children come with a whole host of issues that have nothing to do with who changed their diapers from 9-5 during the first few years of their life....
It had something to do with using a bible for more than just a booster seat, but that was an entire half hour ago! What with all the pawning and overearning I do it takes every ounce of energy to remember who I'm posting to!
Your posts show an inflated sense of the importance of 24/7 contact between a parent and a child. I can almost hear a thousand violins playing. It benefits no one when a mom buys into the Mommy Myth so completely. I think you should consider yourself fortunate to have at least one person in the family who actually "gets it".
