i think she should hold true to her convictions and if it doesn't work out, she needs to have an open mind about changing the situation.

You are simplifying artlessly. The problem is that she has expressed repeatedly and vehemently that she does not care what her dh thinks.

It's about compromise. They need to find a middle ground where they both give in a little. But she thinks there is no such thing as a middle groundhere. That she either works or she doesn't. That shows an absolute unwillingness to compromise because a pretty obvious compromise is for her to work part time. You don't need a perfect marriage or perfect children to see the value of compromise.
