"Ex: I'm tired and have just driven in from out of town and have 5 minutes to change and take my kid to ballet even tho I would rather sit down and relax. I lose, kid goes."
If the kids were with me on the out of town trip then they would miss ballet. If the time line were that close then I would have already have planned on them missing.
If the kids were not with me on the trip then I would have arranged another ride for them ahead of time (if possible).
"Ex: To get my kids enrolled in thier programs I have to be at the YMCA at 4:30 am. I would rather sleep. I lose, kids get enrolled."
My kids love these programs. My daughther would be heart broken to not do Gymnastics or Tumblers. All 15 spots would be gone if I didnt show up at 4:30 in the morning to enroll her. ITs cutthroat here. The spots are limited and if I dont sacrifice 3 hours sleep 4 days a year my kids miss out. Thats unacceptable to me to have my kids miss out b/c I didnt want to get up 3 hours early that morning.
They love something sometimes its a sacrifice for me, but the rewards are so worth it.
Sleep has nothing to do with it I am an early riser and am up between 5:00 and 6:00 most mornings.
You keep stating 3 hours so I assume you are not talking about getting there at 4:30 signing them up for their classes and then going home but getting there at 4:30 to wait in line outside for 3 hours until the place opens up.
For me going three hours without access to a rest room would fall somewhere between extremely uncomfortable and impossible (especially first thing in the morning). I may be selfish but I would not put myself through that unless it was an absolute necessity.
I mean I am losing 3 hours sleep by getting up at 4:15 then 7:15 am. The sign up time was bout 1.5 hours. There is a restroom. We are inside a building that opens at 5:00 am.

A couple of those I would do differently.

Not happening.
I agree with your entire post, but this really stood out...

I'm not sure I agree with that, but it depends on what is in the blank.
