Why does the media portray working moms, always, as having guilt?

How did you get your permit from your city without a general contractor? Who was there for the inspections to explain to the city what was done? Did you do that? Most people use a contractor for these things.

Many do. Definitely.

But many do not. It depends on what one's career goals are. Goals in terms of what type of accounting one wants to do, the type of company one wants to work for, the type of mobility one wants to have, how "advanced" one wants his/her career to be ...

My xh is a CMA and a CIA. He specifically chose not to pursue the CPA because what he likes doing (and is doing) doesn't benefit from having a CPA.

Yep, I'm as old as dirt (51) with fairly young children (7, 10, 12) with a young DH (43). It really beats pushing up dirt, I'm healthy, happy, and accelerating my 401k contributions.

I know that in real estate everything is negotiable. However I dont pay closing costs for someone else. Just not something I am willing to do.

You dont need to know what I did to my house. You said MOST people get general contractors to oversee major renovations. Where do you get this information?

<<>>

No I wasnt.

<>>

No it isnt. You are 100% incorrect on both statements here. Have you been reading this thread?

No permit is required for renovations. You can permit if you are building onto your home, or adding a deck or screenporch, etc. However again those are not required. When we added the the cover to the back patio the man that built the cover permitted the job. That is how it works here. If the homeowner wants to permit a deck, etc the person doing the work will get the permit. We never permit unless it is an addition. There is no need for it.

I just find that things that are different than my experience as just different. Nothing odd about 2 children not really playing together in my book.

Well not sure where you live but here you dont pay any closing costs when selling your home. The only thing I have to pay is my realtor fees, and for the attorney. I have yet to be at a closing where I didnt get a check for the house, and another check for the escrow we have with the mortgage company for taxes.
