Why does the media portray working moms, always, as having guilt?

i have to admit i do the pick up thing before my dh gets home in the evening. about 4 pm we stop and make sure the house is picked up and while i might have the kdis pick up any toys on the first floor before bed whatever they have done in their rooms waits for the next afternoon. if you come to my house between 9-4 you are probably going to find a house with alot of toys on the first floor. for some reason i have never with any of my kids been able to persuade them to play in thier rooms or the playroom which are all on different floors.

Why can't you be concerned about the people in your house as well as your house itself?

ITA with you and try and tell my mom the same thing. Personality is a big thing.

No, I said I will mop or vacuum at night if it needs it. I got a new mop so I did do the house last night while the kids were outside playing with my dh and neighbor."

LOL! That's just soooo not me. I'd be inside either working, making dinner, or.....out playing with them. I'd only be mopping if I spilled something all over the floor.
I do however, go over the hard woods almost every night when the kids are in bed -- takes about 10 minutes -- with a swifter. Just to get the fuzz balls up:)

I would rather do cleaning inbetween times like that so I can spend more time with them on the weekends."

Yes I can agree with that. I'd rather hire someone else to do it though! So that's what I do.

Exactly, thanks. That's how it is in my family, my DH's family and our circle of friends and acquaintances.

It's pretty obvious that she's chosen to have higher standards and live with being more tired for the time being.

I blame Mary Katherine Gallagher. If she hadn't shown her underpants to the whole world, those poor HS girls would be wearing regular clothes just like before.
