Why does the media portray working moms, always, as having guilt?

I'm sorry to hear that about your catholic schools -- you should move to NH - here catholic school enrollment is down and they'er looking for students! At Liza's school parish families get first opportunity for enrollment (which we are) then catholic families from other parishes, then noncatholic students, they also do a great deal of outreach work with the somali, and other african national refugee population and there are a great many students on scholarships who attend the school. One of LIza's best friends is a first generation american wiith Somali parents and she's opened Liza up to a whole new culture which is just wonderful. So you're right, I do take it for granted that she 'can' go there, but I'm still pinching pennies and doing without extras so she can. It's all worth it and the riight choice but it is definitely a struggle at times!

I'm always amazed at the speed and precision with which dropoff and pick up go at Liza's school -- if people start getting rude impatient or disregarding the pick up and drop off lines then Sister Janet fires off an reprimanding letter and everyone instantly behaves -- ah the power of the nuns!

of course I pick Liza up at the afterschool program usually about 4:30 each day so I don't have to fight the pick up line except on half days or other occassions..

we can buy beer and wine in the supermarket -- hard alchohol is under the purvue of the state liquor commission (who consideratly puts huge liquor stores at rest areas on the high way - you know..so drinking and driving is that much easier )

My home state of Maine used to be the same way and then they disbanded the liquor commission and now you can buy ANYTHING in the store. i'll never forget going home to see my folks and seeing rows of vodka and bourbon in the local supermarket -- it seemed so strange to me!

<<>>

I thought you said it was a friend. That is how that man makes a living. This isnt how I make a living. Big difference.

<<>>

Really? Can you prove this? Or is this your experience? My experience is different.

<<>>

Again I will say that we do not and will not allow someone in our home without one of us being their. I dont think that is smart or safe.

<<>>

Somewhere in between. It would depend on what you call major.

Is this like the time you worked at Hallmark but that wasn't really a job either?

I dont want my children to ride a school bus. The bus would pick my children up almost 40 (8:20) minutes before we leave in the mornings and they wouldnt get off the bus until 45 minutes (4:30) after they get out. I take my children and my neighbors children to school and she picks them up daily. Someone else can chose to use the bus, however I dont want my children on a bus at this young age. Just my preference.
