Why does the media portray working moms, always, as having guilt?

Um color me confused. Why did she say:

"whether you were doing work that most people would employ a general contractor to do"

Yes, but that was not the point at all. The point is a simple one. If you buy something, either improve it or create/find a market for it (i.e. expend some energy), then sell it and make a profit in the process, you have EARNED the money and most people would think of what you did as "work."

My father and uncle have never gotten a regular pay check. In my mother's family, her father and something like 10 generations before him lived the same way. They bought and sold things. They invested in ventures that made money. They all made good livings, but none received a salary or pay check.

It can be. Not all owners choose to get paid. They choose instead to put what would be their "income", "draw" or "salary" back into the actual operations of the business.

No, I would like YOUR definition, please, since we do not seem to be operating with the same definition here.

Aha .. note that I didn't say (nor did you in the post I responded to) that buyers always pay closing cost for the buyers. I said sellers pay some closing costs. Sellers have their own set of closing costs they are responsible for.

edited to fix horrendous typos

Umm that's what she's trying to find out. Whether (and the implied or not) you did work that most people would hire a GC for.
