Why does the media portray working moms, always, as having guilt?

I've always felt that about the uniforms! My dds pretty much wear jeans and t-shirts 95% of the time, though in colder months they have sweaters on over top. Whether or not the other kids have more or less money is often hard to tell around here. Unless the child is very obviously poor, of course, but most people here make roughly the same income, give or take. We have some wealthy, but they're often from overseas and they either dress the kid like everyone else, or they're homeschooled. You always have that one kid, though, lol.

I'm not sure about no-talking policies in our PS but the kids seem to be fairly well behaved. In fact (brag moment, lol), the principal announced during the spring festival that our school received kudos for behavior on a recent trip to a local theater.

Your DH doesn't get a paycheck. SAHMs don't, by definition."

So what? He contributes 6 figures to our income through investment expertise each year.
Why does it matter if it comes in the form of a pay check or investment statements? It shouldnt! He contributes financially to our family. And other SAHP's do too.

That's awesome - I think kids are so capable of stepping up to the plate behavior wise -- it's great when they do it as a school or a class.

The other thing I love about the uniforms honestly is that It means I avoid anything remotely smacking of "what am I going to wear today" drama in the morning!

Yes. We. Did.

"He contributes financially to our family. And other SAHP's do too."

Please clarify - you think other SAHPs (all, most, some) contribute financially?

That's okay, I find it totally bizarre that a man who has the personality to work literally around the clock and who was an Olympic caliber athlete can find enough stimulation in life being a SAHD. It doesn't compute for me."

It wouldnt, would it?

He's totally happy with his life PNJ. Which is great for all of us.

Since he's been out of full time work he's become an instruments rated pilot, learned two new sports (white water kayaking and got to the elite level in under 8 years; and ice hockey -- yikes!!!). He stays active with his trading, has a million other interests, and LOVES being a dad. Go figure.

Granted, no big deal. It's just that sometimes issues like this are framed as if there weren't any choices involved.

Dh and I used to live in a neighborhood that was literally a 5 min. drive to the school. Yet every parent with a school aged child would DRIVE them to the bus stop and sit with their heaters running. They would sit for a good 15 min., then the kids would sit on the bus for another 15 min. because they had to pick up more kids. It seems to me they would have wasted less gas and time if they simply drove junior to the school. They could have carpooled, taken turns, and saved even more gas that way. I could never figure out the logic in that group, lol.

Around my way, there are both a bus for those beyond 2 m. from school and crossing guards within that 2 m. zone. Seems like for safety, both are needed.
