Why does the media portray working moms, always, as having guilt?

Wow! When did you suddenly decide to start answering my posts?
I have no idea about "carpool courtesy," at the elementary school, because I've never had to deal with the problem other than to remember to drive an alternate route when I want to get anywhere around starting or dismissal times.
I know there have been several incidents of traffic infractions, including speeding and running stop signs because there have been several times when cops have been stationed in the neighborhood at carpool time.
I have no idea who directs the carpool lines or anything else. I am sure there are a Legion of Concerned Parents someplace.
I walked my kids to school in kindergarten and first grade. I think it was someplace around the middle of second grade when each kid let me know he'd be fine on his own, although from time to time I would go with the kid and walk the dog up to within a block of the school, after which we'd go one way and the kid would head off to school.

OMG liza is SOOO oblivious -- even in busy parking lots -- she "knows' to look for cars but she just gets wrapped up in her own little world and I swear she'd walk into cars left and right if I wasn't always grabbing her out of the way! LOL

An 11 yo she later admits can't stay home alone. Every kid has their strengths and weaknesses, as does every area. I'm fairly certain that Lois' curvy roads are not the same as those found in WV. You should see the out of state drivers trying to handle our roads. The stretch of road the bus stop sits on is almost entirely blind curves. If Lois wants to send her kid to school here, more power to her. I certainly hope I've taught my kids basic road safety by the time they're 11. I'm not coddling my kids by watching them on a dangerous road.
Lets say I didn't watch them and something happened. The FIRST thing everyone here and IRL would say is "Where were the parents?"
But he still plays hockey competitively (low level league though as he just learned to skate 6 years ago!) 3x a week (two nights; Saturday a.m.), does a ton of work / research on investments, and like I said, is happy to be DAD. He's more happy as a full time SAHP than I imagine I could be -- now or ever. He's really amazing with the kids. And like everything he does in life, puts 110% into it. Personally I feel lucky.
