Why does the media portray working moms, always, as having guilt?

He must increase his profit by being able to do so much work himself. That is amazing. We just remodeled our kitchen. The labor we had to pay for was more expensive than the materials! I envy people who are so skilled. Our ceramic floors look amazing and the man who intalled them made it look so easy.

I just don't think one's own kids have much to do with it once we're on the topic of overprotectiveness *in general* (that is, if you believe such a thing even exists).

Sounds like you can't avoid hearing about that stuff, either.

can't avoid hearing about what stuff...what other kids do or don't do? I guess not..although liza doesn't really talk about that topic too much. the only thing that she's on is the "who has her ears pierced' tangent -- I've told her she can do that when she can prove to me she can take care of pierced ears - then every time I explain how ears get pierced she says "never mind!" LOL

Yes. We. Did.

Having to take a new state bar is a huge consideration for lawyers. DH absolutely refuses to ever take another state bar. I love taking tests, so I would do it, but it it wouldn't be much fun moving without him!

It is possible to work remotely or commute in some cases, however. We have a friend who is semi-retired, but still works as an attorney in CA while living in Kauai. He does things by phone/fax/email, and comes back here about once a month to work on things he can't do from a distance. He's still just practicing law in CA, though. He couldn't practice in Hawaii, even though he lives there.

I've never really spent much time at all on the rest of iV, probably because it makes Ladies Home Journal seem like The Nation or something like that.

How about the little tool kits in pink? Hysterical!

The large metro park near us doesn't allow anyone to use their bike paths without a helmet. I think it is great.

Something tells me you're going to be hearing more and more about what all the other kids are up to. IME, you need to develop a pretty good repertoire of avoidance techniques, i.e., putting both hands over your ears and singing a really loud song while walking in the other direction LOL.
