I started lurking on this board when I decided to return to teaching, and already I’ve seen the following scenario played out in excess: Person A says, “I avoid daycare because I want to raise my own children” and Person B responds with, “Are you saying people who work don’t raise their own children?” Cue drama.

I think that "raise" is the hot-button word that it is
You should also understand that the "raise" lingo is usually bandied about by a new mom of an infant or child under the age of 1 or 15 months who can't imagine that raising is going to get uglier dirtier harder and yet even more rewarding than it is now where it's all about keeping lil precious warm dry and fed and rested.
Yes. We. Did.
Because it implies that we are not bringing up our own children.
Oh so true, my friend!

You mean that my precious isn't going to stay by my side and love me forever and ever? LOL
I look forward to seeing those things--that's the reason I checked this board out to begin with. My first impression sparked a major conversation in my head, and I decided to put it out there. I'm hoping you don't assume I'm intentionally offensive or judgmental or closed-minded. I'm none of the above.
Beginning to think
BRAVO!! Wow, thank you SOOOOO much for saying what I've been trying to convey so much more eloquently than I ever could!
I wish I could be your DCP :) Best of luck to you on your return to teaching!
