I started lurking on this board when I decided to return to teaching, and already I’ve seen the following scenario played out in excess: Person A says, “I avoid daycare because I want to raise my own children” and Person B responds with, “Are you saying people who work don’t raise their own children?” Cue drama.

IRL, I often hear people say that they are going to stay at home to raise their kids.

Mostly because IRL, I just cower and feel insulted just because IRL, I am not confrontational.

My Caroline was better off in daycare as a baby...


But as a toddler...I could spend all day with her...

I agree, actually - the more recent poster (wonton or something like that) I think *really* didn't drop the 'so I can raise my kids' bomb as a slam, but she did post on a debate board and she did basically use it casually. I think that people vary widely in their intent, but I have lurked here for close to 2 years before I started posting with any regularlity. It is not a zone for the faint at heart.
