Is is "hard" being a sahm?

For many years now, I have heard the claim that being a sahm is the hardest job in the world. I never chimed in, because I didn't know first hand. I stayed home for 6 weeks when my twin daughters, Sophia and Stephanie (almost 4) were born. And that was hard, because I had 2 newborns. Now, almost 4 years later, I have resigned my job and am staying home again. I can god-honestly say that I don't know what's so hard about this. I personally feel like I am on easy street, but maybe that's because I haven't been at it that long. I feel like I am on vacation. It takes no longer than a couple hours a day to do the housework, and the rest of the time is free time for me and the girls. We have gone to the park, the zoo, chuck e cheeses, and I know not every day is going to be like this, but I feel like I am making up for lost time. My children seem happy and relaxed. The only hard thing about this is that they have gotten into some pretty raging fights with each other, but the fights have ended with quick intervention. I guess I am just wondering how long before this becomes "The hardest job in the world" and I start looking like a zombie, complaining that my husband doesn't help me, and so on? Or do I seriously have the choice not to turn into that? Also, do you think that at the rate I am going, I am at risk for getting bored staying home?

I agree with getting up earlier.

Choose your friends by their character and your socks by their color. Choosing your socks by their character makes no sense and choosing your friends by their color is unthinkable.

And you are not being honest if you think that immediately upon the clock striking noon, it is practical for any employee to leave his/her desk to grab an hour to be alone and read a book. It's completely unrealistic, you know this and I don't know what you're trying to get at.

As I was recently reminded with a pottybreaking pup in the house, my day goes to heck when I have to be awoken by a whimper or a cry, of someone needing my immediate attention, and never slowing down from there. (Of course I realize this is often the unescapable reality when you have an infant, or even an older child with an erratic waking pattern, but generally, isn't that just a matter of time before kids make their own *schedules*?)
It has never given me a chance to get to the post office all by myself, but somehow, standing in line with the kids on a day in which I've *pampered* myself with a little morning me-time, it sure did seem a whole lot less frustrating.
As I explained above, DH starts getting ready for work at about 7:30. He takes a car into the office in New York and arrives by 9:30/10. I alone put the babes to bed at night during the week. So, yes, I am envious of the working person's lunch hr. - definitely not envious of the wohm per se!
<> I'm glad that worked for you. Most children would be concerned if mom didn't show up in the a.m. Most dads of 3 children appreciate a little help from mom in the morning, so I won't deprive him of that. He works hard. Plus, I'm still breastfeeding my now 1 yr-old. (still working on decreasing that).
Unlike other sahms, we are out the door soon after DH leaves. I pride myself on turning off the tv (lots of sah children get too much of it), and we are off and running, getting fresh air, enjoying. So, I need to shower. I can't shower at night, because I collapse after the last one is in bed at 9 pm. Not complaining, but I would love more than the 10 mins at lunchtime my babes allow me to type here. I SAId from the beginning, if I had a lunch hr alone, I'd say sah was easier than woh. I never said wohms have it easy bc of lunch hr. Some wohms are just a little too defensive.
