from the "SAHM wanting to use DC" thread.....

I know that hehmommy's post was an April Fool's joke, but....I'm at the point that all of my friends/acquaintances bar one have at least two children now.

The comment that absolutely floored me came from a stranger in a train while I was on my way to Vienna with ds (he was about 6 or 7 months old at the time). She looked at him and said "a boy, how nice! Your husband must be so glad and relieved!".

I second that, my grandmother was 60 when I was born and not only was she at my college graduation and wedding (I was 30), she was able to meet my children and they should have memories of their great grandmother.

I never met my Mother's parents as they died when she was 7 and 14- so age didn't matter in those cases either.

Well, apparently men are supposed to desire sons more than daughters. I suppose he supposed to have been relieved because I had provided the proper heir after the first try. Sigh. (and, yes, she was Austrian)

well that's because of China's one child policy -- boys are valued, girls are not.
