Did you make your decision to SAH/WAH/WOH ft/pt based primarily on objective/tangible factors, or with your heart?

That sounds like a good way of doing it LOL! Around here it's like people forget what snow is until the first snowfall and then they spook and drive like idiots. LOL!

You're saying that you do think it's healthy for children to never see their dads just so he can be a paycheck for mom to sah? Really? *incredulous*

If Sweden got snow days, they'd only go to school 3-5 months of the year. Shockingly enough, most of Europe's snowbelt don't go into full blown panic mode or hop on the Mrs. Rev. Lovejoy, "But what about the *children*?!?" bandwagon at the first sign of a snowflake.

there's a reason Swedes rule in cross country skiing.

Oh absolutely. But I'd think that in the early years that more than 3hrs a day would be a Very Good Thing. I don't spend 24/7 with my kids, but they see me a lot more than they would if I were WOH.

Some people believe that it's a good thing to limit that anxiety if they can do so. Certainly it's virtually impossible to eliminate it completely- but some feel that limiting it as much as one is able is a more gentle and beneficial approach.

Um, that's what teachers do. Your daughter's teacher is simply teaching. The hugs and kisses and playing one-on-one is what the first grade teacher does, but not the secondary school teacher for instance.

I graduated from a high school class of just 73 and got to know my teachers very well through the intimacy of small class sizes, a small school and office hours. I of course spoke with the teachers outside of class everyday at games, school plays and dances, etc. Of course it was friendly but it was a student/teacher relationship. Nothing more. I was young and wanted friends my own age! My parents were doing a great job so I certainly didn't need a third or fourth parent. And I knew full well that my teachers had children and lives of their own.

Or, in Canada, it's "Greenwich Mean Time, eh?"

Um- no- you don't know my children, nor their schedule, and your WOH has nothing to do with that ;)

As for what I was saying in the post- because I am home with my children and I know their schedule, I see what their Daddy is missing by WOH. And while it's necessary that one of us does so, I don't see any benefit to *both* of us giving up this precious time with our children, even if we have that 3hrs in the evening to spend with them and weekends. MHO.

I agree there is an increased risk through the school environment or actually any environment with a lot of kids present.
