Did you make your decision to SAH/WAH/WOH ft/pt based primarily on objective/tangible factors, or with your heart?

I agree with your post. It is impossible to stop your children from every single germ. It is not healthy anyway to prevent every germ. Antibacterial soaps, etc. are also worse (if overused). Plain soap and water is always best.

Basically, I tell me kids to wash up in the morning, before lunch (for the youngest, the oldest does in school), before dinner and bed. If they are outside playing, they wash up quick when they get in.

Who the heck as that kind of time anyway?

That's *why* I didn't find it funny I guess. LOL! Oh well- humor via text often falls flat- no big deal ;)

Yes, you've made it very clear you don't enjoy sah and certainly don't see it as an "opportunity" for your children. Plus, you are a wohm under the definition used on this board. I think you're confusing that term with "volunteer." It's no concern to me ~ I'm just trying to understand why you're so against sah.

You've only been woh p-t (or sah or whatever) a short time compared to the years you've been a parent. Perhaps under those circumstances, of course it's impossible to say sah has any benefit for one's children ~ what would that be saying about your older children, right? Really, I have only seen one other sahm on this board who hates sah so much. It's so easy to go out and get a f-t job if you're unhappy with it.

I asked because it's a debate board.

I don't think a teacher has to be a third or fourth parent to have the type of role in a child's life that PKA and I have been talking about.

i.e. My high school speech teacher was a huge part of my life. Because of her class, and my personal relationship with her, I developed a huge appreciation, and passion, for theatre and acting. And it's something that has carried over into my life now. It was furthered by a particular theatre director in college (one that I still exchange christmas cards and letters with ... 15 years later). Those two "teachers" instilled something in me that will be with me until the day I die.

And that's just ONE example.
