Did you make your decision to SAH/WAH/WOH ft/pt based primarily on objective/tangible factors, or with your heart?

overall, i would not dispute that at all. but i think there is more to it than that. some kids go to daycare and are never sick, some kids sah and are always sick. if you took 20 of the kids that go to daycare and put them in a class together i dont think they would all of a sudden start being sickly just because they were in daycare. fortunately my kids must have pretty good immune systems because they are rarely sick (knock on wood here). while they certainly get their share of colds i dont recall any of the three of them every being what i would call really sick - th closest being when the oldest had chicken pox, but from the best we could figure she got that at church

Yes I understand that one. However that isn't what she was speaking about. Working those rotating shifts is different due to the fact that he works all night long. She is speaking of someone that is working 2 or 3 jobs that has to log in 90 hours per week. Not the 24 hour rotating shifts.

It's amazing what a little snow does to some people.

Yes I do dispute it.

I don't need to understand it. This is a debate board and I am questioning why you would deliberately try to bait her into something. I didn't read where anyone else asked her any questions about that. I don't see how something that she clearly wrote that pertained to herself and not a group of people or anyone else is unclear. I could see how you would be confused if she said that WOH would mean missing out on children's childhoods. However she didn't say anything like that at all. I just didn't get how you could be confused.

Even having dual WOHP isn't a guarantee of getting there :).

Right, BUT that is BY CHOICE. She is speaking of the WOHP that has to work 90-100 hours per week because the SAHP won't work at all. I know all about work long hours. I would work about 65-80 per week every week. It was too much for me to do with kids. Basically my DH and a nanny would have been raising the kids. I would have been the lady that slept in the house and that would be about it.

You may not need to be around to provide a loving presence, but I can tell you from experience that you need to be around to act as a chauffer. Once my kids got involved in activities an ddeveloped a full-fledged social life, the demads for me to cart them here and there were greater than when they were small and simply played with the kids on the street. Beleive me, it doesn't get easier. As a matter of fact, it's much more of a juggling act with older kids than it is with babies and toddlers.

A hug would convey the same feelings. There is a huge middle ground between kissing and being a robot. In our district, kissing would be unacceptable teacher/student behavior.
