Did you make your decision to SAH/WAH/WOH ft/pt based primarily on objective/tangible factors, or with your heart?

I wouldn't think so, I already had my two to watch and believe me I was all over the place usually.

<< Does anyone disagree that a SAHP would tend to spend more time with the kids than a WOHP?>>

Depends, greatly, on the ages of the kids, the number of kids, the personality as a parent, etc.

Sure, those first 6-8 weeks can involve a lot of sleep deprivation. But many people aren't back at work that early. Mine were sleeping very well by 9 weeks (from about 8-9pm straight through to 7am with one quick nursing session around 4am). I just wasn't sleep deprived, in spite of getting up at 7am and never taking a nap. "sleep when the baby sleeps" only works for the first in many cases anyway. Ds no longer took naps when dd was born. It would have been very irresponsible of me to leave him to his own devices while I took a nap with the baby.

I think the easiest is to be a WOHD when mom stays up all night.. LOL

Possibly. But many under 3s don't frequently night-wake. So your generalisation that a WOHM with kids under 3 will face serious sleep deprivation doesn't apply to all (or even most).

I was sleep deprived for well over 6 months with Peter and about 15 months with Joey.

You always slept when your kids did? They always slept at the same time? Hmmm. Mine rarely did when they were younger. It has only been since my younger DS moved to one nap (around 17mo) instead of 2 that I can count on double naps. Before? Not so much. It was more like DS1 slept in the late AM, DS2 after lunch, DS1 again late afternoon.

Yeah but presumbly all moms took their kids. So there are still more kids than sets of eyes.

i.e. PKA takes her two, the mom of twins takes her two ... still a 2:1 kid:adult ratio .. not any different than one mom with twins.

I sah for a period of time when I had two children under the age of 2 and for a little while after that when ds1 turned 2 a couple of months later.

Right. But the sleeping patterns were specific to your kids, not generally true of all children under 3.
