Did you make your decision to SAH/WAH/WOH ft/pt based primarily on objective/tangible factors, or with your heart?

Well, isn't that what she was saying and one of the reasons she doesn't go to the park very often?

"Also- remember that most moms of infants/toddlers don't tend to take their kids to play at the park (not around here anyway). "

That's interesting.

"You don't think a sahp has a greater opportunity to make up sleep than a wohp who is at work all day?"

No, I do not think that as an absolute. Sometimes, it may work out that way, other times not.

No studies, just my own experience. I have a 10 year old DD who was in daycare when she was younger. I have a 2 year old DS who is home with me (I'm currently SAH). My DS gets just as many colds as my DD did in daycare. My DD brings everything from school home with her, and her brother unfortunatly has been sick at least 3 times this past year.

I can agree that mothers with only younger non school age children who SAH, might lessen the chance of their children being sick because of exposure, but many families have children whose ages are spread out (mine have an 8 1/2 year age difference). It makes no difference if my son is home with me, because he gets sick anyway, due to the illnesses going around his sisters school.

My point is if I WOH, my son would be in daycare. How is my DS being in daycare, any different to being exposed daily with illness than that from his older sister bringing the same bugs/illnesses into our house that are going around at her school? He is exposed either way. So me being a SAHM doesn't at all make him have less colds/flu.

Because IME, a ratio of 2 moms to 4 kids still works out better than 1 mom to 2 kids. Sure, it's great onthe weekend when DH can go too, then it's 2 parents to 2 kids. It's just nt realistic to expect that on a daily basis as a SAHM. Usually, the other people at the park at that time are other SAHPs.

All 4 kids were home all day long with you.

I don't think opportunities are absolute though...just that there is a great chance of it occurring not an absolute chance.
