Did you make your decision to SAH/WAH/WOH ft/pt based primarily on objective/tangible factors, or with your heart?

Although she worded her post awkwardly, I believe what she was trying to say was that if a "PARENT" suffers from sleep deprivation and there are no medical reasons, then that parent has no one to blame but themselves.

She wasn't talking about the children having sleep deprivation. Her subject wasn't made very clear, though.

I guess, even though my SHORT weeks averaged 55 hrs/week, and I was active duty military, I didn't understand "the life of a WOH" either because I didn't go to work *regularly* sleep deprived. There was the occasional day here and there, but it rarely had anything to do with John and was usually a direct result of insufficient recovery time from CQ duty.

" says, "Navy makes a very strong statement." I guess so. It says, "I'm boring." Or, "I'd like this job here at the bank.""

Even so, it's a 15-20 min break. By the time you leave your office, find a place to sleep, fall asleep, its time to go back to your office again. You'd get what? maybe 7-10 min of sleep?

Based on what? While I sometimes know, I don't usually. And since dh fixes broken computers for a living, how's he supposed to know whose software is gonna fritz out before it actually happens?

Yep.

And so often my kids are too sick to go to school (fever, diahrrhea, etc) but otherwise feel great. They're don't feel sick; they just ARE sick. They don't need mom or dad necessarily. They just need to not be making others sick.

No. She is talking the parent suffering sleep deprivation because a child doesn't sleep well. And that, according to her, is the parents' fault.

Uh- neither do I. Growing up in rural Pa I've seen my share of snowstorms (at least a few a year) that lead to quite a few snow days because the roads are simply impassable- but that doesn't mean a few flakes equals a snow day LOL!

No- it isn't always- but in this case the evidence is clearly showing an increased risk. Now, if you're comfortable playing the odds- that's your business. But I'm not comfortable risking my childrens health based on the hope that we'll somehow beat the odds.
