Did you make your decision to SAH/WAH/WOH ft/pt based primarily on objective/tangible factors, or with your heart?

If he can say your name he should be sleeping through the night.

I suppose you've never heard of a "high-needs* child? Is that the parent's fault?

What does your son do at night to keep you awake? How old is he?

Heck .. ds got to the point he would just come barging into the room. But, guess I should ignore him crying 2 inches from my ear.

He doesn't anymore. He's 5.5. He's a very good sleeper now.

And I will give your opinion all the consideration it deserves. I don't think someone who said this "Both of mine slept through the night by the time they were 4 months old." has had any experience at all with kids who don't sleep through the night, since 4 months is pretty early for an infant to be sleeping through the night. And I'm pretty sure it's nothing I did, because I tried just about everything, and it didn't work. How old were yours when they slept through the night in their own crib? If you co-slept, they really didn't have any reason to wake up and call for you, you were already there.

What I am saying is merely that the more frequent the exposure to other children the more risk for contracting illness. It's a simple matter that children in daycare (group care setting) *tend to* (not always, but generally) be exposed to more children more often than those who are cared for at home- even taking into consideration that SAHM's obviously don't always SAH and their children do interact with others. The more contact/interaction the greater the risk. Period.

You would let your small child cry for hours at a time for nights on end?

What exactly is that?

They went to their cribs at 6 months. They did cry the first couple of nights but that was it.
