Did you make your decision to SAH/WAH/WOH ft/pt based primarily on objective/tangible factors, or with your heart?

Because I think both parents are very important.

two big thumbs up..i commend military families who must graciously face moves more than i probably have as moves with us, personally, have tested patience, compromise and trust. with each one of our moves, we've met loads of wonderful people and have created loads of memories, but that *raising* element boils down to how well or how bad dh and i are doing our jobs.

I'm not seeing the point here. It's possible to keep a kid alive in a closet indefinitely, but what is the fact that it's possible to survive on a very minimal basis supposed to tell us about what's involved in actually raising a child to be a fully functional human being?

I've told you a dozen times around this board, PA. I *could* go work for my father if I had to/wanted to. We don't choose for that to happen. I could replace *most* of his income. I also could have chosen long ago before we had children to finish my degree *then* and enter my chosen profession. It wasn't what either I or DH wanted for me at the time. Why is this so hard for you to understand? I'm thinking it must be or you wouldn't keep asking. Do you not understand, or do you just not like the answer?

Let's not forget that even if I were WOH currently, if I lost my job for whatever reason, I might not be able to get another making the same pay 'tomorrow'.

Especially considering that *most* military jobs are sufficiently unique that the community is a TINY one. I still meet people that I served with as they come through Ft. Meade for one reason or another. And if you meet someone in that job specialty you didn't know? Like as not, you both know people in common.

The only closer community I've ever experienced is the printing industry.

Which I have addressed in a previous post to mom3, we have specifically turned down transfers in the past because we have felt it wouldn't be a right time for the kids to more nor were we at a good place to lose that network.

I disagree as I have mentioned before.
