Did you make your decision to SAH/WAH/WOH ft/pt based primarily on objective/tangible factors, or with your heart?

I disagree. Especially if that is what the couple has set up. I personally don't know any families that have a WOHP that has to work excessive hours to make ends met, but if that is what the parents have set up then that is their call not mine or yours.

Because you did, in essence, have othercare for your infants.

For millions of people, yes. For millions more that is the primary reason, but there are other additional reasons too.

I've known several families where the father works 2 or even 3 jobs so the mom can SAH. I think it would be a much better balance for mom to take one of those jobs ...

How would you and dh feel about bringing up your babies as dual WOHP's who both work 60 hours per week, plus maybe some travel? "

We wouldnt do it. I think I've mentioned before...in this thread...that we only want one WOHP...if DH goes back full time; I'll go to part time. As it is, I work long hours with travel (about every other week I'll have an overnight or so...this coming week is unusual...I'm away from home Tuesday through Thursday when I get home at 11 p.m....)...the week after, one overnight...No way would we have two of us doing that.

No we had help. Have you had preemie twins? Everyone *I* know who has, has either enlisted a mother or mother in law, or a nanny, for early on. When they were infants we didnt *leave* them in other care. My mother lived with us for the first 2 months to help. I don't consider her "other care."

Your kids nursed every hour for months?"

Ours did every 3 hours for the first 2 months, then every 4 for a few more...but they were preemies.

Maybe in your case that might be true. However for those families it obviously isn't.
