Help! Husband pushing me to find job!

My husband has just taken a leave of absense from his high paying 80 hour a week job to focus on being home more and finding out what he really wants to do. He is now working 3 days a week at a job he really likes. He always said if he took this job he would find another part time job to supplement the income. I am working weekends and babysitting during the week, but my income is a joke. Our kids are 5 and 3 and cry every weekend when I leave. My problem is this: my husband has put no effort in finding that 2nd job he said he would find and is pushing me to work full time. I want to be a stay at home mom, but it may mean him going back to a job he hates. He says the kids will adjust, get over it. Am I being selfish or lazy for wanting to stay home? Is he being selfish for leaving a good paying job?

I didn't count health among science. That was taught by whatever teacher had an opening and it wasn't one of the science teachers as I believe. If memory serves me correctly, my health teacher also taught english, lol.

No-that one doesn't ring a bell which is odd because I used to work downtown. Where is it, exactly? We're always looking for good food, lol.

Unfortunately, because I can only be hired by a school district that can't find a chemistry teacher with certs, I'm stuck with mid year. Given the number of my fellow students who have certs who are out of work, I simply cannot risk quitting my job to student teach becasue I could end up facing long term unemployment. Either I find a paying position I can use for my student teaching by January of 2009 or I'm done. At that point my credits start going stale and I refuse to throw good money after bad.

That's ok though. I wanted to go into teaching because I thought there was a need and I could do some good. If I can't find a position, that's evidence that there isn't a need and if there isn't a need, someone coming in with industrial experience isn't going to make much difference. The situation kind of negates my reasons for wanting to teach in the first place. I just wish I'd realized this BEFORE I spent several thousands of dollars on tuition for a degree it now looks like I can't finish.

What I find odd is that I qualify today to teach chemistry or engineering in college but can't teach high school.

Yes, it is funny with the Greeks. They can be very formal in certain situations, but when it comes to eating, they prefer things simple for the most part. You get the occasional newly rich types who must have white table cloths and la-dee-da, but it is not a general thing. Also, everybody eats out here. It is not something reserved for the upper classes, so there are places to suit every income level.

LOL, I was in the deli the other day because dd had requested some prosciuotto. The deli guy tried to sell me some serrano ham instead, but I explained that dd preferred the prosciuotto, whereas I preferred the serrano. Then I asked for some French goat cheese as well because dd likes it and I was in a sweet mood. He tried to sell me something cheaper, but I explained that dd really likes the chevre, not the other stuff. He was laughing at me for having taught the kid the difference in the first place. She never even went for the freaking chicken nuggets.
