Help! Husband pushing me to find job!

My husband has just taken a leave of absense from his high paying 80 hour a week job to focus on being home more and finding out what he really wants to do. He is now working 3 days a week at a job he really likes. He always said if he took this job he would find another part time job to supplement the income. I am working weekends and babysitting during the week, but my income is a joke. Our kids are 5 and 3 and cry every weekend when I leave. My problem is this: my husband has put no effort in finding that 2nd job he said he would find and is pushing me to work full time. I want to be a stay at home mom, but it may mean him going back to a job he hates. He says the kids will adjust, get over it. Am I being selfish or lazy for wanting to stay home? Is he being selfish for leaving a good paying job?

You're among the lucky few. Pensions and retirement benefits are being phased out in the private sector.

Um, because you felt compelled to use YOUR bible to promote your position -- and I felt it important to remind you that MANY of us do NOT follow your bible -- and therefore set our families up according to the rules (or lack thereof) that we get from our religions.

No, but certainly a bit near-sighted when considering how others set up their families.

And yes, when you do use YOUR religion to try to prove that you as a sahp are "better" than a wohm -- JUST because you sah -- yeah, it comes off as acting superior.

What Lois, do ppl run and tell you when something comes up about history and the Bible or what?

The link you posted is from 1995. The link I posted is much more recent (2005, I believe). Since I was only talking about current retirees, whether or not social security will be around when you or I retire is irrelevant.

It is a conscious choice, so I'm not too sure what luck has to do with it. Our salaries are also going to be significantly lower than the salaries of people who work in the private sector.

There are only so many government jobs available. Luck has a lot to do with it.

A lot has to do with your career choice. Librarians (my career choice) or teachers (DH's career choice) can easily find government jobs. In fact, it's probably more difficult to find a job in these fields that is not a government job.

the question would be, why do you feel compelled to imply that you are doing things the *right* way and sitting in judgement of those who do things differently than you?

So, you don't ever think things are either right or wrong, ever? Is everything relative to you?

I am honest. I don't sugarcoat a thing....that's what you can't deal with.
