Help! Husband pushing me to find job!

My husband has just taken a leave of absense from his high paying 80 hour a week job to focus on being home more and finding out what he really wants to do. He is now working 3 days a week at a job he really likes. He always said if he took this job he would find another part time job to supplement the income. I am working weekends and babysitting during the week, but my income is a joke. Our kids are 5 and 3 and cry every weekend when I leave. My problem is this: my husband has put no effort in finding that 2nd job he said he would find and is pushing me to work full time. I want to be a stay at home mom, but it may mean him going back to a job he hates. He says the kids will adjust, get over it. Am I being selfish or lazy for wanting to stay home? Is he being selfish for leaving a good paying job?

I agree that the discussion would get too involved for this board. Christians no more pick and choose doctrine than you do as Mormons.

No dress up clothes for any of you?

Okay, I'm out of practice over here and don't have the inclination to look up what I already wrote. How about I just say that $3000 seems like an awful lot, ESPECIALLY if a family is only bringing in $30K? It seems like a lot to me, even with a higher household income, because frankly, I don't like to think of such large expenses AND that I have slowly evolved (me and my lifestyle) to the point where several thousands of dollars each year get spent on clothes. Call it denial.

We own twelve baseball/softball gloves, as a family. Yet, last Thursday night, when ds was asked to find his glove for the first baseball workout of the season, only eleven gloves could be located. My dh had to buy a new one for ds on his way home from work. So maybe $3000 isn't that unreasonable of a number...

So why was it, when the Pharisees were about to stone the woman caught in adultery, Christ said, "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone"?

Christ is every bit as much about mercy as justice.

I just think it's funny, since it's obvious your household income is much higher than mine and that you don't need to follow a budget, you're calling me out as the one who's so out of touch with how the $30,000 families live.

Don't forget to count your Ann Taylor suit in your clothing calculation.

You're in total denial.

Honestly, I always thought I was pretty frugal when it comes to clothes.
