Help! Husband pushing me to find job!

My husband has just taken a leave of absense from his high paying 80 hour a week job to focus on being home more and finding out what he really wants to do. He is now working 3 days a week at a job he really likes. He always said if he took this job he would find another part time job to supplement the income. I am working weekends and babysitting during the week, but my income is a joke. Our kids are 5 and 3 and cry every weekend when I leave. My problem is this: my husband has put no effort in finding that 2nd job he said he would find and is pushing me to work full time. I want to be a stay at home mom, but it may mean him going back to a job he hates. He says the kids will adjust, get over it. Am I being selfish or lazy for wanting to stay home? Is he being selfish for leaving a good paying job?

Quite true. When we were living on less than that, snow clothes, multiple sports, and nice running shoes were totally out of the question. Not to mention, "going out" was somewhat unheard of. :)

The only thing that surprises me is that your DH doesn't own a suit.

Eh... maybe. I'm not sure I could convince him to buy a suit. The only time I've ever seen him (kind of) in a suit was on our wedding day, and it was rented. I guess we'll tackle the wedding situation when we come to it. He has one friend who may get married someday.. LOL. Although I think the guy is pretty well on his way to being a professional bachelor.

I don't know where you are, but where I am, there is a critcal need for math teachers at the high school level. There is even an alternative way to get certified.

You must also have small high school in your area. Our local high school has four science teachers for each grade. It has around 1800-2000 students in four grades (45o-500 in each). Our county has 25 high school and our school is on the smaller size. PLenty of opportunities.

If you would like to discuss it further, take it to the RDB (religion debate board). I'm not being unfair. I want to know why you think I am. Was I not asked a question? Did I not answer? Did you like the answer? NO. That's YOUR problem. I'm done with it here.

"We own twelve baseball/softball gloves, as a family. Yet, last Thursday night, when ds was asked to find his glove for the first baseball workout of the season, only eleven gloves could be located. My dh had to buy a new one for ds on his way home from work. So maybe $3000 isn't that unreasonable of a number..."

I SAID IN JEST: "I forgot I am not a Christian"

YOU SAID SERIOUSLY: You stated this no one else did.

YOU MUST HAVE FORGOTTEN THE OTHER POSTER SAID THIS: " Christians no more pick and choose doctrine than you do as Mormons."

'I' would NEVER say I wasn't a Christian and neither would anyone who knows anything real about Mormon doctrine.

Apparently, you add to the original poster when you say: "I do not view a mormon as a christian."

So, not only did the original poster say I wasn't a Christian, you said it as well.

I did not say it.

AS FOR THIS:

Many of the things mormon's practice believe in and follow, go agianst my religious beliefs......

Many of the things you probably believe in go against my religious beliefs as well. However, I would never stop once to think that what you or anyone else can do or believe has anything to do with my personal relationship with either my Father in Heaven nor with my Saviour, Jesus Christ. I still consider all who believe in Christ to be Christian, even if it isn't how I believe in Christ.

How very judgmental of you.

How do you reconcile that judgment there with this statement?

"I do however, respect their choice and the path they follow, even though it goes agianst my beliefs."????

Go figure. Pot meet kettle.

You don't condemn me for my beliefs but you made sure to tell me how wrong I am for believing them although you reserve the right to respect me for it even if it's different from what you view is correct....

How is that any different from what I believe about homosexuality?

ANSWER IN SHORT: it's not.

I just want to chime in and say that while I appreciate the wonderful posts and overwhelming support from so many people and even though I always enjoy a good religious debate with you I am as I said earlier mindful this isn't the religion debate board and I"m feeling somewhat bad that my post lo those many days ago about recognizing that families come in all shapes and sizes has morphed into this sidetrack. Clearly we're not ever going to agree on this and that's cool...and we probably all need to let it drop I think if that's cool with y'all. let's get back to debating good old safe WOMH/SAHM issues LOL....

High schools come in all sizes around here. I'm in a major metropolitan area. Still, there just arent't that many jobs for chemistry teachers. Yes, a high school will have more than one science teacher. They usually have a life science teacher, a physical science teacher and a chemistry teacher.

They keep telling us there's a shortage of math/science teachers but I keep seeing grads unable to find jobs. Which is why I don't feel I can risk quitting my job to do my student teaching. As bad as being unemployed for 8-12 months before I take a 50% pay cut would be, not being able to find a teaching job would be worse.
