Come first?

I don't mean in an emergency or their general well being.

I think their needs should come first when possible, but not their wants. And your examples are perfectly in line with that. Paradoxically, putting a child's needs first means

Why should it be minimized as much as possible?

Fast food is fine every once in awhile. Don't your kids ever get McDonalds or Burger King?

Eating to be sociable is fine. I wouldn't tell my child they couldn't have something in a social setting. Or going out to eat with extended family or something like that is important.

I'm talking about impulse feeding children fast food. Statistics show that most fast food meals are purchased without planning ahead of time. Meaning most moms dont wake up in the morning and say I'm going to feed the kids mcdonald's for dinner. Planning ahead so that you have healthy staples on hand at all times eliminates this last minute need to feed the kids and I have no idea what and nothing on hand and here we are at some drive thru.
