Come first?

I don't mean in an emergency or their general well being.

I don't see the difference for why or when you use fast food.

Ok I apologize to Tina. Whos got it all under control and feeds her kids less fast food than mine. But the overall idea is true statistically no matter what Tina does. Lots of busy parents are not planning and feeding their kids more fast food than they should. And we've got the overweight kids to prove it. And the fast food companies own marketing research says the same thing. I am speaking of us all as a nation.

Ok Sorry. If we're not stupid and we don't live under a rock, why are so many kids overweight. why are fast food companies so successful. It's just something to think about. If it doesn't apply to you why get offended.

Yes, Pizza Hut is pretty nasty, but we do not eat that. Domino's OTOH seems pretty OK to me and the rest of the time I make the pizza myself usually.

Depends on what you eat, how you eat it and how much you eat that fast food.

You are assuming that those are the only two choices, not true.

Guys - I get that no one wants to get slammed about allowing kids to eat fast food. But I think the intent behind favoring *not* using fast food, and the reality that frequently fast food choices because we're rushed and don't have something to fall back on is not a horrible thing to say. I eat fast food WAAAY too often. When combined with other higher-sodium and higher-fat take out choices, my kids and myself (diabetic) were getting on a bad run. Now I actually have negotiated to leave early every Wednesday (I'll be getting out after this post) *just* to do meal planning and shopping - I've only done 2 weeks, but our nutrition has definitely improved.

Anyway, I guess I was just reacting - I think it silly for anyone to sort of blanket as a bad thing fast food - there are tons of reasons for families to need a quick, fun meal, and anything in moderation can be appropriate. But, while the OP may have been a bit glib about the fast food thing, I think most of us would tend to agree that we'd prefer to minimize the fast food eaten by our kids and that we tend to use it less (or as a real choice versus a fallback) when we actually have teh freedom to plan meals.

Or thats JMHO

I don't know, I must be doing something right....my kids routinely choose healthy foods, don't have a weight problem and don't eat just to get full.

Okay and if you don't have the option to go home in order to eat....
