For moms who choose to use daycares, how do you determine that your child will be well cared for? I have a close relative who is about to become a mommy and she is terrified of leaving the baby in daycare. No one in my immediately family has ever used a daycare

You've gotta do what you've gotta do....Those days must have been really rough on you. I know the colicky time my child went through was very hard on all of us (me,hubby,&Grandma). It's all you can do to not go crazy during all the crying and screaming. Tell me...were your children in daycare during the colic? I can't imagine how that would work.

Uh Huh.

as the first time mom when my son was born, I had no worries leaving him in the dcp's capable hands.

Plus, escaping from colic for a bit every day probably keeps mom and dad saner and in better control when they do have to face it.

that would concern me if it happened on a regular basis - was there enough staff?

I'm glad you did the appropriate research when looking into child care. I'm sure you did a great job, and your child was fine during the day. I just prefer to be home with my little one. Some parents prefer to work. As far as the 8 hours M-F goes...that is a long time away from a child. I'm with my son all day and night every day of the week, and I see just how much I would miss if I worked full time. A lot happens in that 8+ hour period. That doesn't mean you're a bad parent even if you don' t have to work
