For moms who choose to use daycares, how do you determine that your child will be well cared for? I have a close relative who is about to become a mommy and she is terrified of leaving the baby in daycare. No one in my immediately family has ever used a daycare

"Some of them work because they need the money, and some work also just because they prefer that over staying home all day.'

You forgot a big reason: some of us work because we really like our careers, and planned to WOH before ever getting pg in the first place.

The doctor didn't recommend my son eat small quantities. He just did that on his own. She explained that the reflux was probably the reason he didn't nurse for long amounts of time. Axid was the first and only med we had to use.

When we were in OKC over the holidays, I think I spent about $6,700 in Walgreens, in $12 increments. :)

If I call my friend Denise from Walgreens/CVS/Target (since really the only place I can ever talk in peace is on my cell away from kids) she always says the same thing to me "Remember, put your blinders on".

Liza had the typical bout of ear infections her first 18 months and has pretty much been dandy since then save an occasional cold. When she was an infant i was on the phone with ask a nurse one night and i was feeling guilty and said "is this cuz I have her in daycare?" and the kind wonderful nurse on the other end of the phone said "oh honey... either she gets it now or she gets it in kindergarten but she'll get it!"

made me feel much better!

Our pediatrician agrees but adds that earlier is better than after school starting.

If he is worth the paper his degree is printed on, he tells us the same thing! I have also recently heard that the rise in food allergies is actually due, in part, to humans no longer having to fight off parasites (ie worms), so our digestive tracts, itching for a fight, have started reacting to our foods. Don't know if it is true, sounds plausible, but I still wouldn't love for my kids to have pinworms ;)

The bubonic plague could pass through Connecticut and my kids would escape unscathed right now, I am Legend style. They had so much crap during their first 18 months (including a set of PE tubes apiece and a lovely bout of RSV with 4 day hospital stay for Caroline at 14 months) that they have these massively awesome immune systems now.
