I am about to turn 23 and I want to start trying to have kids when I turn 25. I want to be a stay at home mom. I LOVE kids! I could not be away from my baby. But, heres the problem. How do I afford it? 2 car payments a house payment, and 1 credit card payment! And of course all the other monthly bills. My husband and I both have college degrees but he does make more than me. We both want me to stay at home. How did ya'll switch from 2 incomes to 1? Is everyone just rich? I dont get it! Please help! I know I need to start preparing financially for this now!

"I have a 3 year old car, not for the staus but for the reliability". I have a '97 Chevy. Since my car is 5 years older than yours, by your logic I must be a better person. However, I work PT, so I must be a worse person. I guess if we balance that my car is older than yours but I also work PT- work that allows me to buy the best cuts of meat and the freshest fish- we must be morally the same.

"all the people i know that the parents could afford to give them their wants have turned out to be people no one likes. my sister in law is one of them. she gives her children everything they want and they are little monsters that make demeaning comments to people like me."

People like you? You mean people who come to a public debate board to bad mouth working mothers and family members?
Thanks, but I'll take me, and "people like me" any day of the week.

i'm no saint. i do things for myself everyday. i don't complain about too much about my clothes cause granted they are tight, but i exercise for myself everyday. im just fed up with woman and men looking down on me and my children becuase we don't have a big bank account. my husband is not rich and probally never will be and im okay with that. what im not okay with is when there is money and we get a chance alone, people look down on us cause our clothes are not out of the fashion magazine. or that we have 50 year old house with alot of things that need fixing. i guess im tired of people with the mentality of "let them eat cake"
