I am about to turn 23 and I want to start trying to have kids when I turn 25. I want to be a stay at home mom. I LOVE kids! I could not be away from my baby. But, heres the problem. How do I afford it? 2 car payments a house payment, and 1 credit card payment! And of course all the other monthly bills. My husband and I both have college degrees but he does make more than me. We both want me to stay at home. How did ya'll switch from 2 incomes to 1? Is everyone just rich? I dont get it! Please help! I know I need to start preparing financially for this now!

Have you given any thought to the fact people may not look down on you because of you bank account but more for your attitude?

i never bad mouthed working mothers. ive been there before. i have worked some when my children were smaller and i had a babysitter. i know it is hard. ive been there. working and coming home to a dirty house and crying babies. and to top it all off you have to cook diner. been there done that. as far as badmouthing my family it didnt happen my real family is my husband and children. they are the only ones that matter. she is my sil not my sister. a divorce could cure that problem. she would no longer be family. her kids are young and arlready they don't want to play with mine cause the toys are not as nice and we don't have the food they want when they are here. in fact i watched her kids for awhile. she didn't like the fact that i fed her kids what i had instead of buying them special meals. which by the way i charged her only 50 dollars a week as a favor to her and then turned around and used that money to buy food to replace the food her kids ate. so her son went back and told her i wasnt feeding him. lol lol

"Nobody needs luxuries. Want, yes. Need, no way." And yet 3 years ago you bought a new car. New cars are far more expensive than pedicures. Far more expensive than multiple pedicures. So...why is it morally ok for you to buy a new car, but it's somehow suspect for a woman to get a pedicure?

For the record, I'd say the majority- if not all- of the women on this board are middle class. Some may be upper middle class, but I doubt there are any who are rich. I could be wrong.

My car is 8 years old- I bought it used. May I assume that you think you are too good to sit in it simply because you once bought a new car?

i have a friend who works everyday and still has to rely on govt asst. to make ends meet. she works everyday. what if you couldn't make ends meet on your own you would let your kids starve for pride.
