how do i convince my husband to let me at least job-share so i can take care of our 3 month old dd? he grew up with his mom working & all his friend's moms working. we can afford it if we cut back on some things, but he doesn't want to cut back & just doesn't understand someone wanting to be a stay at home mom...it doesn't help mycause that the grandmothers will babysit. i'm so unhappy about having to go back to work...he wants me to work full time 1 more year & just doesn't get it! i feel like my heart is being ripped from my chest every time i hink about it.

"But artificial feeding methods of some sort....yes. They have found bottles dating back to 1500bc. Given the mortality rate of women in childbirth....yes."
Did artificial feeding methods of some sort exist...yes.
Were they the norm...no.
I wonder what areas they are looking at, big cities, rural areas, etc... i think that would play a huge role....
My oldest dd was in childcare from when she was born until she was in 5th grade. She had a nanny from the time she was born until she turned 3 and entered Montessori school. She had the same teacher and aide at the Montessori school until she finished kindergarten. She then had the same teacher for grades 1-3. She started public school in 4th grade and had a new teacher, her teacher from Montessori school picked her up after school and kept her until we got home at 4:30. So from birth until 5th grade she had 5 cargivers/teachers.
My middle dd had the same caregiver from birth until I became a sahm when she was 2.5. She then had a daycare teacher (2 mornings a week for 3 hours), a preschool teacher (3 mornings a week for 4 hours), a k4 teachers (3 days a week for 7 hours a day) and a kindergarten teachers (all day 5 days a week). So she had 5 caregivers/teachers thru kindergarten. My sah had no impact on the number of caregivers/teachers.
My little guy is only 2, so far he has had two different caregivers (probably about 30 hours total) normally so I can work at the school or go on field trips with my middle dd.
I am certain there are kids who have great turnover in their caregivers, but there are also plenty who do not. I just find it hard to believe that I am the only one who can find caregiving situations without turnover. At the Montessori school every teacher had been there at least 10 years. At the preschool/daycare my middle dd went to the same teachers had been there since it opened, granted it was a small church affiliated place. Her k4 teacher had been there for 20 years. I just dont think i am that unique, especially since I know alot of other people who have had a the same caregiver for several years, thru several siblings.

"One thing I will say is that perhaps what you describe is hard for me to understand because I cant imagine having a child who would rather make up word problems than swim or ride their bike."
Why would you assume that she would *rather* do these things? Why would you assume that she doesn't do and enjoy doing *both* of these things? BTW yes, she loves to swim, ride her bike, roller blade, ride her skateboard, and water ski (she finally got her very own pair this summer, instead of using a borrowed pair for the last two years).
"By the way, I hate frogs, but you know when you have kids you have to do what you have to do. LOL"
I love frogs as does my dd, and lizards, and snakes, and salamaders, and hermit crabs, and tarantulas, etc. (not so much the tarantulas for me though LOL). In fact, we bascially have a zoo of creatures living in dd's bathroom. Oh, I guess I should have listed Raising/Taking Care of our 9 various animals on the outline of DD's Science Activities/Projects LOL. But honestly, it's rather difficult to keep a running list of each and every science-based activity/project that we do, especially the spontaneous ones!
My middle dd has to read at least 20 miniutes a day, but other than that she is on the go. They do play quietly, house, school, etc... but they are things they themselves choose. Maybe because there are so many kids in our neighborhood around the same age is why they are constantly on the go, and alot of time they are at each others houses.
Now my little guy, he NEVER slows down - boys are way different than girls - or at least mine is. Granted he is only 2. The plus side is that he sleeps about 13 hours at night and still takes a 2-2.5 hour nap every day. The only time he will sit still to be read to or look at books is before bed. He also spends alot of time following the older kids around, and they are so good about playing with him. He is like their lifesize baby doll.

To a certain extent, I would agree that we are debating opinions, although I am not sure I would always use the word debate as that often requires a two way exchange of material which has not been the case.

Never said they were.

"Actually the bible isn't a work of fiction. It is a work of history."
Oh sorry, historical fiction then.
"I myself take issue with the Bible being considered "the word of God". I believe it is, instead, man's interpretation of the word of God."
Hmm, I believe it is instead, man's interpretation of "the word of man".
"There is more tangible physical evidence for the Bible than for any other work of literature. Those who contend otherwise simply have not studied the Bible, relying on hearsay and speculation instead; or refuse to believe its truth;"
To believe it's truth of what...?
1. THe Absolute/Objective Truth of Chrisitanity?
Why then, do we not all share the same version of "Truth" (Christian or otherwise)? How many people have been killed and murdered in the name of Chrisitanity?
"There is more tangible physical evidence for the Bible than for any other work of literature. Those who contend otherwise simply have not studied the Bible, relying on hearsay and speculation instead; or refuse to believe its truth;"
Again, To believe it's truth of what...?
2. The existance of an omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent, unchangeable, supernatural, perfect, God?
Why would anyone want a supernatural God that never changes, grows, learns, or evolves?

To believe it's truth of what...?
3. The existance of a jealous, vengeful, murderous God?
How exactly can a God who is jealous, vengeful, and murderous be "Perfect"? How many people does God kill/murder in the bible? How many people does Satan kill/murder in the bible? KInd of scary when you think about it huh?
