how do i convince my husband to let me at least job-share so i can take care of our 3 month old dd? he grew up with his mom working & all his friend's moms working. we can afford it if we cut back on some things, but he doesn't want to cut back & just doesn't understand someone wanting to be a stay at home mom...it doesn't help mycause that the grandmothers will babysit. i'm so unhappy about having to go back to work...he wants me to work full time 1 more year & just doesn't get it! i feel like my heart is being ripped from my chest every time i hink about it.

I even remember reading about a case of twins where they had to do an er c-section and pulled one twin out for surgery and then the second was born a couple of months later at their normal due date

~~I read that too. Thankfully after 20 weeks of complete bed rest they were born the same day!!~~

"Realistically, and naturally, the real version, people are social animals who thrive when they live as social groups. Because they can all help each other."]

Asolutely! And...?

"Realistically, and naturally, the real version, people of mommy age are also people of the strongest and healthiest age."

Asolutely! And...?

"They need to be doing things that require the skills of heathy strong people."

Asolutely! And...?

Are you suggesting that mothering does not require the skills of healthy strong people? Are you suggesting that mothering is an unimportant or unnecessary skill for healthy strong people?

"baby care can largely fall to those who are still too young, or now too old, to work in the fields, hunt animals, build and repair shelters, make clothes, provide leaderhsip and direction, etc."

Hmm, so how did the "too young, or now too old" breastfed the young, seeing as there was no artificial milk or bottles?

BTW, your post certainly makes it sound as if baby care is basically grunt work. Could you please explain why it is that you feel this way?

"Naturally we are all set up to have the baby cared for by many more hands than mommy alone can provide,"

Perhaps you could provide us with some evidence which supports your contention?

BTW, here's a link you might find interesting.

I'm with you on the heat. I took the boys out for their walk at 7:00 and was soaking wet 15 minutes later. It is HOT. I don't even want to see our electric bill when it comes.

Yeah, supposedly it is coming here. Right now...it is upper 90's. I have four workers (none cute) in my house drilling and pounding. It is too hot to go outside and play and the kids are pooled out. I have a headache and...and....

I just want peace and quiet!

Batmanuel: I must say, I find your sister strangely compelling. Do you think she'd care to go out with me?”
Arthur: What? NO! She's married. She's got two kids.
Batmanuel: Oh yes, I thought I knew that scent! A soccer mommy! It's my only weakness

"And just a FYI so you don't have to embarrass yourself again on the tpoic of twins. Boy/Girl twins can not be identical."

Umm, where did I say they were identical?

That is what I thought, but your description of him made him sound like a poodle, so I thought, Hm, I guess I got it wrong.

Post a picture anyway!

Oh, we got our electric bill ... $187 for electric usage alone ... add on other charges, and sewer/water and my whopping total was over $257.

Last month it was $188 total ...

sigh

But, on the bright side? My gas bill was only $22!

I live in a very small apartment. Two small AC units. Bill? $243 for electric alone. In the winter it is usually $80!!
