how do i convince my husband to let me at least job-share so i can take care of our 3 month old dd? he grew up with his mom working & all his friend's moms working. we can afford it if we cut back on some things, but he doesn't want to cut back & just doesn't understand someone wanting to be a stay at home mom...it doesn't help mycause that the grandmothers will babysit. i'm so unhappy about having to go back to work...he wants me to work full time 1 more year & just doesn't get it! i feel like my heart is being ripped from my chest every time i hink about it.

yikes....and there are how many volunteers, administration and teachers supervising dismissal time?? here, it's either carpool, bus line escort or pick up. all are very very well orchestrated and rules are never disrespected, the principal makes sure of it.

That still makes me chuckle.

it works wonderfully here.....in the begining of the school year, we (parents) are required to indicate the means of transportation our children will be using. dismissal starts at approx 10 minutes before the bell rings (2:50ish). the bus line is escorted from one supervisor in each grade; the pick up group the same; and the car pool is escorted to the cafeteria double doors that go outside. out there are about 4 or 5 supervisors (teachers, mothers, always principal) directing traffic........i use carpool and on my dash, is the name of each child i pick up (on color coded laminated paper to indicate what grade they are in). it's a great arrangement and i hope to help once my ds starts school.

Many schools (dd's included) do not allow parents to use the parking lot. It is for staff only.

Our pre-k group does similar, as the kids are younger.

But the rest of the grades ... there are just too many kids at this school for it to work. Sigh. Its, imo, the best ES in the district, but I do wish it was smaller (over 600 kids, PK-5)

Come on, Susannah, that is neither "optimal" nor "natural" of the school.

Batmanuel: I must say, I find your sister strangely compelling. Do you think she'd care to go out with me?”
Arthur: What? NO! She's married. She's got two kids.
Batmanuel: Oh yes, I thought I knew that scent! A soccer mommy! It's my only weakness
