how do i convince my husband to let me at least job-share so i can take care of our 3 month old dd? he grew up with his mom working & all his friend's moms working. we can afford it if we cut back on some things, but he doesn't want to cut back & just doesn't understand someone wanting to be a stay at home mom...it doesn't help mycause that the grandmothers will babysit. i'm so unhappy about having to go back to work...he wants me to work full time 1 more year & just doesn't get it! i feel like my heart is being ripped from my chest every time i hink about it.

Well, *someone* has to be around in order for it to constitute a "group", lol. That would seem obvious, at least to me. As to the genetic linkage of those individuals to the child in question? I would say that not only is it "natural" for children to be cared for in groups by/with unrelated individuals, it is a biological imperative. Groups of humans, even small ones, must be genetically diverse in order to thrive. Healthy social groups of mammals (and other mammals I would daresay) must contain not only biologically related individuals but also *unrelated* ones to ensure continued genetic diversity. To put it plainly, groups that are *too* related, don't fare well in the long-run, lol.

And it did not necessarily follow that one mother fed only *her* baby. Any lactating woman would do....

Also, what do you mean by, "the older of the twins now 16 months," aren't they both 16 months, seeing as they're twins LOL?

I was responding to your snarky comment about there age. To each his own. In our family (we have 2 boys as well) the boys wanted to know who was the big sister and the little sister. Your nephews may not have older siblings therefore do not care about who is older. Ours did. It had nothing to do with our preferences or the fact that they are fraternal.

BTW I am a SAHM and have complete Respect for WOHM's and there decision, be it they Love there job. Therefore it makes them Happy and Complete and a better parent for it. Or they work to make ends meet or are saving for college. I do not respect SAHM's who think that they are the End All. And that there is no other choice in parenting.

Well, considering that on this board we're not allowed to give kids' names (**snort**) ...Seriously, many like to keep their children's names secret, for security purposes. So we designate by "older ds", "middle ds", "ds1", "ds2" ... etc ... why should twins be treated any differently? Saying "the older one" is simply a way of identifying WHICH twin she was talking about without giving a name.

Maybe you would like to use your childrens names on the internet, I prefer to keep them private.

OMG

The twins are girls. Ds1 is our oldest and Ds2 is the youngest of the boys.

Funny that you do not have your childrens names and ages in your profile?

Now I am thinking that either you have one child or that you have more than 1 and are home schooling or planning on it. As why would you want to expose your precious child/ children to a number of illnesses at a school setting. Now keep in mind that if you have little precious at pre k and or school and you have a baby at home. Little precious is then exposing baby to all of those nasty illnesses at school!!
