how do i convince my husband to let me at least job-share so i can take care of our 3 month old dd? he grew up with his mom working & all his friend's moms working. we can afford it if we cut back on some things, but he doesn't want to cut back & just doesn't understand someone wanting to be a stay at home mom...it doesn't help mycause that the grandmothers will babysit. i'm so unhappy about having to go back to work...he wants me to work full time 1 more year & just doesn't get it! i feel like my heart is being ripped from my chest every time i hink about it.

She does have to "live up to" getting decent grades and being an all around family member in good standing. Of course dh and I care about that; we want her to be successful. But, at her age, I'm all done with micromanagement. If she wants to stay up all night and study or play on the computer, I won't interfere because I have plenty of other things to think about. If her grades suffer, she'll know why. No problems with this one so far, knock wood.

Mine is actually a narcissicist with a personality disorder. Not that I have ever tried to diagnose her or anything...she also might be bipolar.

I have often thought of her as a sociopath though.

I can not handle gruesome. Even the Innocence book had me uncomfortable when it was describing the crime. I am having the kids sleep in their beds so I spend last night checking windows and making sure the dogs were alive.

Ann Rule is not for me!

i think one can very easily disagree and form a prejudice about an education system as a *whole*. i sometimes, no a lot of times, have to keep my own mouth zipped about the prejudice i have about public schools. there is so much red tape and a little too much diversity than what i grew up with which makes a lot about public school (as a whole) something i disagree with.

do you think someone who is adamant about *homeschooling* their child going to change their mind if they move to some nice area where there are *nice* schools with good reputations?.......i highly doubt it. you can fill in the same sort of blank about private school, about public school, anything.

I have always wondered about parents of sociopaths. How do they not realize it? Or do they conviently block the signs? I think I would probably try to rationalize the torture of gerbils and lizards but, by the time, the third gerbil had it eyes poked out or the dog had his tail set on fire, I would hope I realized my child had issues.

The lack of compassion and remorse really bothers me. I spend the majority of my life feeling remorse for things not under my control and compassion for people that could probably care less. I just don't understand how a parent could see the lack of compassion and lack of remorse and not do anything.

Of course, the parents might be a huge part of the problem.

Classic!

DS is currently engaged in conducting a biochemical analysis of Cheetos while ALSO doing a social studies unit on American society as presented in SpongeBob SquarePants. He's also been making mathematical predictions about how many ounces of water Mom's going to need to keep from passing out from heat prostration from attempting to vacuum all the dog hair out of the car. Homeschooling lessons galore around here too.

What I've gathered is that sociopaths are *extremely* good at pretending to be good people.

You do realize what this means, don't you?

I am going to have to read the book. I think of Jeffrey Dahmer and other serial killers like the BKT killer when talking about sociopaths. They began with animal torture and moved up to humans. Sociopaths might be a different class.

Off to check my checking account and order books from Amazon.

Batmanuel: I must say, I find your sister strangely compelling. Do you think she'd care to go out with me?”
Arthur: What? NO! She's married. She's got two kids.
Batmanuel: Oh yes, I thought I knew that scent! A soccer mommy! It's my only weakness

I'm not sure BTK and Jeffery Dahmer were sociopaths at all.
