how do i convince my husband to let me at least job-share so i can take care of our 3 month old dd? he grew up with his mom working & all his friend's moms working. we can afford it if we cut back on some things, but he doesn't want to cut back & just doesn't understand someone wanting to be a stay at home mom...it doesn't help mycause that the grandmothers will babysit. i'm so unhappy about having to go back to work...he wants me to work full time 1 more year & just doesn't get it! i feel like my heart is being ripped from my chest every time i hink about it.

"So you're saying that you feel that it is more of a biological norm that infants be fed from whatever source was readily available, as opposed to nursing at their own mothers breast?"

Humans are mammals, Period. End of story :) Therefore, indeed, it *is* the biological norm that infants nurse at their own mothers breast.

"Can you explain why breast milk is customized to a woman's own infants needs, as opposed to just being "a readily available source" for whatever infant happened to need feeding around said woman? *curious*"

I'm also curious as to how she can explain "why breast milk is customized to a woman's own infants needs."

"In fact, I could actually see the argument that it is biologically better for several mothers to nurse several (unrelated) infants."

Could you please provide us with evidence/research that supports your contention?

BTW, Why do you think mothers would nurse several (unrelated) infants, especially considering the fact that according to statistics, the majority of mothers don't even breastfeed their own children?

"Hmm...how long do you think sahm's such as yourself have been around?"

How long do you think *WOHM's* such as yourself have been around?

I'd say that SAHM/WAHM's have been around far longer than WOHM's.

"How long do you think the modern evolution of sahm such as yourself has been around?"

And, How long do you think the modern evolution of *WOHM* such as yourself has been around?

Again, I'd say that the modern evolution of SAHM/WAHM's have been around far longer than the modern evolution of WOHM's.

Psst ... I responded, point by point, to this same post .. she ignored mine .. maybe you'll have better luck.

"Because the real work of the predecessor of the modern sahm was the housework/work of life."

Do you have any scientific evidence or links to back up your opinion?

I just thought of something ....

momofhk states <> indicating that daycare workers without college degrees and teaching licenses are unqualified to care for children.

Hmmm, does momofhk have a college degree and a teaching license? If not, then how is she qualified to homeschool her daughter?

"It's only now in the last 50+ years that women have been allowed to focus on the mothering because most of the housework/work load has been lifted because of technology."

Do you have any scientific evidence or links to back up your opinion?

"You can't compare being a sahm now when a sahm 200 years ago."

Doesn't your statement above directly contradict/negate your contention that the SAHM is a *new* invention?

Furthermore, how exactly can you compare a WOHM now to a WAHM 200 years ago?
