I just have to ask those working moms....How do you do it?????
I am a Step-mom to two boys ages 6 and 9. I have a three year old that has been in minimal nursery school since he was one. He only goes three days a week for a couple of hours.
My step-sons BM (birth mother) just had a baby with her BF and this is her schedule:
She drops my step-sons at school to the morning-care program at 7:15AM (school starts at 8:45AM). She then drives her three month old baby to an in-home sitter that has five or six other kids at 7:45AM and then goes to work. She picks the baby up at 6:00PM and then she picks my SS up from after-care at 6:15PM (their school is over at 3:10PM). So my ss's are at school each day for 11 hours and the three month old baby is at a sitters for 10 hours each day!
Doesn't that seem like a lot! I just don't understand this. I offered to watch my SS's and she let me for two weeks and then got mad at my DH and put them back in the scholl child care program.
Why would you bother having children if someone else is going to raise them for you?

Wow, if you hated your children going to their school why didn't you do something about it?

And speaking of people who can't seem to manage intelligent participation on this board, you're not exactly in any position to 'shame shame' others.
How heavy are your winters?
Snow boots are not essential and you have to realize on a board with the magnititude of posts that not everyone is going to live as you do or agree with you. It's not a question of excellent or not all boots look in your foot to where the heavy socks you do wear make your feet sweat and some peoples feet sweat.
And yes she has my old set if she would decide to play outside and that is suitable. She rarely plays out in the snow because she doesn't want to. And I see nothing wrong with that especially since both she an I and other family members get upper respiratory problems at the drop of a hat with cold weather.
Snow boots are essential where I live, even if there is no snow. We must buy excellent ones because we have never had problems with stinking and they keep the feet completely dry and very warm. We get fur-lined, goretex (waterproof but breathable) boots.
"She has an old set to play in the snow that were mine but she never did much of it cause it was cold and she doesn't like it. We have everything shoveled for when she goes to school so she can wear regular shoes."
Maybe she doesn't enjoy playing in the snow because she isn't properly dressed for it?
No she just doesn't like the cold weather. She is tween. She has clothing and is dressed properly she just doesn't like boots. It's a preference . She likes her gym shoes and she is the one that has to wear them. I along with her share in this and prefer gym shoes and other shoes.
Secondly, she prefers other activies and other seasons. My child will play out when it's warm ball but that's about it. She is more into swimming and traveling an a great deal of other things. And winter isn't her favorite time of year. She prefers being inside and I don't blame her.
I don't subscribe to children being out in the cold, rain or what have you. Even her school doesn't hold recess outside they have it inside the gym.
Our church youth group youth minister likes the outdoors in the cold and the rain and what have you. We have impaired immune systems and we simply can not do it. Nor would we want to do it. So when a event starts to rain or what we leave we don't stay out in the rain. Nor do we stay out in the cold. We prefer the summer and fall months bar the rain. We get migraines and simply don't enjoy the colder and snow and what have you. But that is part of where we live so we take the good with the bad.
Our kids love being out in the snow and don't mind the cold at all, but then they have proper winter boots, snow overalls (goretex), sweaters, scarfs and waterproof (goretex) gloves (in addition to the usual clothing and underclothing). They don't seem to mind the cold, which is a good thing considering that children are expected to be outside for at least an hour or two every day at school/dc regardless of weather conditions (they go out in rain, snow, sleet, wind etc.).
My child doesn't not go out in those weather conditions she would be living at the ENT all year if that was the case and be sick all the time. And she does have 4 winter coats , 3 starter jackets, socks, scarves, gloves, mittens, headbands, and steel toed climbing boots however; the girl is not going out in those conditions and I can say her father wouldn't even go out in that type of weather only to the car, the mall or movies, or over someone's house or to the sportsmall.
I let my child when it's warmer play ball foursquare, football, baseball outside but not in snow, sleet or rain. Most people don't keep their children out in that type of weather it's conducive to upper respiratory and colds. And I am not gonna do it nor is her father.
My child is her own person and I think it's ridiculous to say well I think therefore the kids have to I don't raise her that way my child knows that she can do and be anything she wants to be. I listen to what she likes and dislikes and I don't force her to wear or go where she doesn't want to go. It's called respect and consideration.
Our schools here have recess and have the children inside not outside and that is ludicrous I would be up at that school my child would not be outside in that type of weather. That is ridiculous to have those children playing out in the cold when there is a gym or what have you. Absoulutely ridiculous. So I guess I would be finding a school that put the kids inside not outside during incliment weather.
And no my child wouldn't wear the boots so that wouldn't be a problem she refuses to now I am lucky if she puts my big moon boots on even with that she goes for 10 min and is back and on to something else. She isn't a winter outdoors girl. Nor am I for that matter we would be better served living in Miami or someplace warm all year round.
And where is it you live and why would you live there if it's like that. We have salt and stuff put on the ground but she has her big leather gym shoes an other shoes she wears. And by the way she is the type of child that doesn't like messes so that would be a mess, she would walk around or carry a spare with her. But most of our roads, stores, schools and driveways are cleared so there isn't slush, which is very nice for us. We don't get much snow, but when we do everything closes down and people don't go out of their houses. And we veg that is businesses and schools.
