I just have to ask those working moms....How do you do it?????
I am a Step-mom to two boys ages 6 and 9. I have a three year old that has been in minimal nursery school since he was one. He only goes three days a week for a couple of hours.
My step-sons BM (birth mother) just had a baby with her BF and this is her schedule:
She drops my step-sons at school to the morning-care program at 7:15AM (school starts at 8:45AM). She then drives her three month old baby to an in-home sitter that has five or six other kids at 7:45AM and then goes to work. She picks the baby up at 6:00PM and then she picks my SS up from after-care at 6:15PM (their school is over at 3:10PM). So my ss's are at school each day for 11 hours and the three month old baby is at a sitters for 10 hours each day!
Doesn't that seem like a lot! I just don't understand this. I offered to watch my SS's and she let me for two weeks and then got mad at my DH and put them back in the scholl child care program.
Why would you bother having children if someone else is going to raise them for you?

What I am saying is this you all emphatically say in certain areas of the country you have to wear boots. I am saying this is America if the mom doesn't want her children to wear boots they do not have to. They may not like them they may have their reasons as do I. Bottom line it's not for you or any other person ie step mom there to tell mom there what and what not to put on her children's feet. Enough said.
And we already determined mom is being vindictive and backstabbing so it's pointless to go this route again.
I live in the south. But I didn't mention what I consider the south it could be south of Michigan it could be south of Chicago. We do get snow. Our schools keep the kids in on bad days where the weather is cold. An that is the way it is. I could see people taking issue if she was having the two boys barefooted trapsing through snow drifts but the mother isn't and from step mom the boys are well taken care of on both sides step mom just disagrees with parenting style and that happens.
So enough said. By the way my Avia's are pretty darn near comfortable.
Maybe you get sick out in the cold because you are not dressed properly?

And some folks do have boots but they don't let their children play out here. I live in the city and most folks have the kids in. It's dangerous these days. Parents are working and such and so the children play in.
As far as our schools the public ones and our private catholic ones have playgrounds but they don't have the park equipment such as slides and swings of that nature due to the liability of children being injured.
Then again some of our schools here go year round. And some don't we get out really early also so our summers breaks begin early and some of the schools begin in July. So it just depends upon where you are. I am thankful our school began in August not July.
We do have tracks and fields and tennis courts which are used in spring and summer. However in winter months baseball and other sports practice in the gyms. We have indoor things.
Yep kids stay in to March :) Unless we get a heat wave. This year it took from last week of Nove in to Dec for snow and it's gone again Yeah ha. We will get more on an off. Sometimes it last to April. Sometimes not it just depends on the flow of the hurricanes, and the global warming.

Tell me the Julia Roberts got married barefoot in 20 below weather then we have something to discuss. Otherwise what you wrote makes no sense.
I'm sorry I don't recall the step mom saying where she lived, can you point me to that post?

Doctor's practice medicine notice the word practice. They haven't perfected it yet so right now while they are practicing it and both my child and myself have impaired immune systems we will stay out of the cold.
And guess what we dress appropriately layers and tons of clothing and we don't stay out doors. We have air cleaners and the works. It's just the way it is. And another thing I am not the only one with this belief system you won't see children playing out while it's cold. Today not one child was outside. You will see them going to the mall or at the movies or shopping or at the sports mall. But not out playing.
Enough said.
