How does this relate to the debate?

Hey I rhymed! lol

Something occurred to me earlier and I wanted to see how others thought it might relate to the whole "which is harder SAH/WOH" portion of the debate that crops up so often.

I think that, when you look at either group *as a whole*, the WOHs might have it harder. And this is why ...

There are virtually no SAHMs who SAH because they "have to". There are virtually no SAHMs who are forced to SAH. A woman that SAH wants to SAH.(I'm sure there's a few exceptions out there; controlling dhs who MAKE their wives SAH, disabled children, etc) A woman that SAH doesn't hate her "job", or else she'd go get a WOH job. A woman that SAH is generally getting what she wants.

There are LOTS AND LOTS of WOHMs who WOH because they "have to". A single mom, or one whose dh doesn't make enough to support the family, or one with a disabled dh, whatever the case may be ... she may long, with all her heart, to SAH, but *can't*. Many WOHMs hate their jobs, but can't quit.

Anyhoo ... just wanted to stir up something new

I dunno. I never said you should or shouldn't do anything, I was responding to someone who said that they would never pump for thier child. That statement seemed unnatural to me. Just as the insistence that everyone that doesn't practice extended bf is "unnatural" and that the all children would respond in the same way and thrive in all of these practices.

I do wonder about the orthodontia/oral issues with extended bf in the same manner as a bottle, thumb/finger, pacifier is "bad". If a child should be weaned from those things, why is the breast exempt?

The "classic" rock of the 60s and 70s is a little too classic for me. ;) I just can't feel the love.

Yeah but here's how I see it ... SU was shopping at Stereotypes R Us, and the OP was the store she was shoppping at ... get it?

And TM said almost as much. She later clarified that she was saying SU was "buying into" the MSAHM attitude. SU was "buying into" the OP. Therefore she was the one shopping ... get it?

But I agree to a point .. the OP was the one that initially brought up the stereotype.

I guess if you don't mind being woken up every night that it's not a problem. I was beginning to resemble something from night of the living dead, and I'm pretty sure I wasn't operating at full speed. Lack of sleep was a big problem for me.

Darnit! I knew I forgot something!! No. Birks are not my friend. We don't have a Whole Foods. We have a similar store called Nature's. I only go their for a certain avocado butter (for my fake black hair) and to look at firm bike messenger booties.

Funny, how when folks disagree with her, she has never had to resort to the "You just keep misreading & misunderstanding my posts" line.

Nor has she used the "It's not my fault. you can't understand me" which is then quickly followed by the "Well, you don't make any sense either" post.

Oh, the places you'll go....when you can communicate effectively.

I just read that sentence from her differently.

I think it's mostly that the sheer mechanics of the breast are different from all those other things. It lays at the back of the mouth, it doesn't continuosly flow like a bottle, they don't have it permanently affixed to their mouths like SOME pacifier/bottle kids. Breastmilk is made up of different stuff than cow milk... etc

I kind of enjoy looking like a zombie. I'm used to waking up in the middle of the night. It doesn't bother me, anymore. Plus, he just rolls into our bed and goes back to sleep. He rarely wakes up completely.

Yes, I think you ARE here for ECSM...and anyone else you can sucker into paying attention to you. I think you behave as you do, SPECIFICALLY, for ECSM and others because you'd flat out die if you were ignored.

That they are kind enough to indulge your endless and senseless demands for atttention is something you should have the decency to be grateful for.
