How do you think the economy will affect decisions by women to stay at home versus work? With so many people losing jobs, do you think more women will be forced back into a job to help out (or take over) family finances? Is SAH parenting

There's no guarantee of any income on the application, people can lose jobs too.

It's clear what you think happened. I don't subscribe to the New Age school of thought that says that the reality that one creates in one's own head is the same as objective reality, but I see that you do. It works for Shirley MacLaine, it seems to work for a lot of people. But it does make discourse across the disciplines rather difficult.

Yes, that could happen. In fact, it did happen.

Not a stretch at all - Are you aware of what's going on in this economy? One may have a job applying for the loan, but there is no guarantee that the job will continue over the life of the loan.

Child support really seems a more stable income stream, as its contractually obligated.

You know, I haven't called you on this before, but if you really looked at what students were saying about me on that site where you found the one student complaining about me being late to class, you would find a mixed bag. You would find that just as many or more students took the time to compliment my teaching and praise my classes as you would students who were dissatisfied. You would see 16 students in about five years took the time to say ANYTHING. You would understand that 16 students out of the about five hundred that I taught over the course of five years would really not be representative of much. That is, that is what you would do if you were really interested in providing anything like an objective assessment of my work. But you don't seem to be interested in doing that. Instead, you seem to be interested in saying negative things about me. Why?

Your understanding of gift vs income tax is just as flawed, objectively, as your understanding of the Wounded Knee Scenario in your head.

Oh, but a really GOOD student will usually apply at four or five places and get accepted at most or all of them. So after they have been accepted, they will often shop around to find the absolute best fit before they make a serious commitment to one place or another.

Yes, it is true that if that income is needed in order to qualify for a loan, you would provide it. What I (and others) have been arguing is that often you do NOT need to disclose all of your income in order to qualify for a loan. Often what you need to reveal is just enough to persuade the lended you have the ability to pay back what you borrow.
