How do you think the economy will affect decisions by women to stay at home versus work? With so many people losing jobs, do you think more women will be forced back into a job to help out (or take over) family finances? Is SAH parenting

Yes but even if that is the case for most people, that other costs almost even out, a doubling or halving of housing costs could be really significant, since for many people, housing is their largest expense.

You'd have to convince me that a box of cereal in Northern Va. costs substantially more than a box of cereal in elsewhere in the US.

I disagree and have had the opposite experience than you in my travels in the US.

I have to agree with you. I have been to stores and have family down south and the food prices are not that much lower. Housing and taxes might be cheaper (in certain areas). Gas is cheaper.
There are things that are cheaper in higher col areas than lower, like water. Our water is very cheap compared to other places.

You've brought nothing to the col "debate" except what you believe with no actual facts to back up your suppositions.

The food costs are related to the location of the food source and the cost of transportation, and the prevailing wages of the store workers and cost of store infrastructure. The prevailing wage effects the costs of services, e.g. daycare or plumbing costs in the Northeast is much more expensive than comparable service in the midwest.

I'm sure if we all bought our food on the internet as you suggest, we'd see a rapid increase due to the inefficient distribution method, besides just being silly.

" . . . but you can't compare another place (unless of course she lives there) to continue the debate."

Can't? Like it's a law or a rule? Maybe you'd better show us in TOS where one "can't" do that. Thanks!

If you are sticking to the debate on hand, then no you can't wander off onto another area.

And again, that's simply not true.
