How do you think the economy will affect decisions by women to stay at home versus work? With so many people losing jobs, do you think more women will be forced back into a job to help out (or take over) family finances? Is SAH parenting

I'm pretty sure that a dollar is going to buy more gas, say in Texas (see above map) than

I just went on Amazon and whaddyaknow you can buy cereal there. You can buy a couple brands in bulk (4-6 boxes) and then you still need to pay shipping. It would be utterly insane to buy groceries this way. Anf then there's the matter of perishables. Even somebody who has 6 boxes of Rainsin Bran UPS'd to them still needs milk to go with it.

ITA with you on gas but not with everything. I personally pay less for water than many other places.

Of course it's true. It's the actual definition of what COL means.

And most foreclosures are not awesome deals. To buy a foreclosure at auction you have to pay the mortgagor's balance that they owed plus all the interest & costs. Most of these people couldn't sell their house because they owed too much & it's over the market rate. Thus the mortgage balance and all the costs would be more than the market rate. And you have to bring cash to that sale. Most people can't do all that & it wouldn't be smart to pay the over the market price at the auction. Better to buy it later after the bank has taken it over. At least then the bank, is listing it at the market price (but again not some steal--just the regular ol' market rate).

indeed -- I love stuff like that -- I suspected gas was much higher in other areas than in southern NH where I live -- but didn't realize how much.
