How do you think the economy will affect decisions by women to stay at home versus work? With so many people losing jobs, do you think more women will be forced back into a job to help out (or take over) family finances? Is SAH parenting

Gosh, I'm pretty sure groceries and other consumable necessities cost more in Greenwich than in Houston.

No, I'm not. I'm assuming that it costs more to buy a house, with or without a mortgage and regardless of any of the other specifics, that costs $450,000 than a house that costs $150,000.

One other thing that egd never acknowledges is that in some high COL areas, you simply cannot buy a single family home for $150,000, unlike in Houston.

You post things from iVillage support boards and non-iVillage boards here, but you're questioning where on this exact board she posted that? Oh my.

No, actually, you don't get to set the debate rules. As everyone is telling you, the debate is about high COL vs. low COL, and not comparing two particular posters.

There isn't an apartment in the entire metro area where you live under $1000 or in your subdivision area?

Even with your current SOL, you couldn't afford to SAH if you lived in DC and your DH made exactly what he makes today.
