How do you think the economy will affect decisions by women to stay at home versus work? With so many people losing jobs, do you think more women will be forced back into a job to help out (or take over) family finances? Is SAH parenting

that's what I found too -- AND I would have had the devil of a time finding a first floor unit that was ranch-style (dd is in a wheelchair).

Luckily for us, ex quit-claim on the house and I was able to refinance for the MORTGAGE price -- NOT the market price.

Dangit, that's it. I'm going to eat a bowl of cereal now. Yes, it's Cheerios. No I didn't buy it online. Yes, I bought it bulk from Costco. No, I didn't have a coupon. Yes, I would still have to work if I had used a coupon.

What do you mean by "home" in this context? A studio/1BR apartment?

How much did it cost?

I can answer this. My standard of living didn't suddenly change when I moved from the San Francisco Bay Area to the midwest. But living in the midwest, with its dramatically different housing costs, meant that we COULD afford to save for college and retirement, that we had money left over at the end of every month instead of me having to dip into savings every time I had to get new tires or pay an unexpected bill. The stress level for me went way down because I didn't like living on the financial edge like we did in the Bay Area.

I saw two listings in your town for under 200K, none for 150K, but there was one you might be able to talk down to 150K. It was listed at 189,900. But there were no pictures, which tells you a lot right there.
