How do you think the economy will affect decisions by women to stay at home versus work? With so many people losing jobs, do you think more women will be forced back into a job to help out (or take over) family finances? Is SAH parenting

Oh fascinating -- when I made the point that the $100 I get in child care is critical to my ability to support Liza it was hardly enough to be considered a second income-- I was then told "$100 is alot for many people"

Totally understood but intellectual fulfillment and passion doesn't pay the bills :)

Depends on your SOL, doesn't it?

And that's why I posited a "very short term" financial negative.

Not really when your mortgage is higher in another area close to you so it all equals out. There is no "extra" $100 then :)

The difference in salary changes depending on how much you put into the bucket...I looked at city-data for a median household income and housing costs.

Overall the col difference is 130 to 113 (for the house you listed), with 100 being the national average, that's quite a jump.

Again, did you figure out the salary amount? $100/week

I remember that debate, something about living on $40,000 a year was hard to do or something like that...interesting how now that col and $100/week isn't much when the debaters change.
