How do you think the economy will affect decisions by women to stay at home versus work? With so many people losing jobs, do you think more women will be forced back into a job to help out (or take over) family finances? Is SAH parenting

That's great but many people could not live that frugally and don't enjoy the same things so they could live very happy not pinching their pennies at every turn.

We didn't stay in the Bay Area for several reasons....one, because my husband and I were both offered jobs in the same zip code, so that mattered to us; two because of the cost of living in the Bay Area. As nice as it was, we couldn't save the kind of money we wanted to -- we couldn't even afford to buy a house in a school district we might have been comfortable using for our kids -- we got out before either of the children was school age.

And the main reason was the housing. The rest was just about the same.

No, that was clearly not the case.

Oh my....I was in Dallas recently and spent an incredible afternoon in the Dallas Art Museum. They have the King Tut exhibit there right now. I've spent more time in the Austin/St Antonio area, which is culturally fascinating -- a mixture of Native American, old Spanish, and German settlement making for some really neat urban landscapes as well as some of the most beautiful architecture in North America. And besides, Molly Ivins was from Texas. No, it's not a cultural wasteland.

I'm sure you're right -- TV is available most places.

I am not going to go back and forth with you. Here is all the info. The 1st town is mine and the 2nd the comparison. You will see the MAIN difference is the housing that makes the salary a little less to live there.
