How young is too young?daycare?

If you have a career and you had a baby what age would you think is apropriate to send your child to daycare/dayhome after they were born?

I have a friend that is a dayhome provider, she has 10mnth old twins and she was provinding care for a 2yr old. Mom of the 2yr old just had a baby and she was back to work when baby was 4days old, in my friends care. It is only half days now, but she is soon going to be full time, the baby is almost 5wks. Thoughts?

Be who you are and say what you feel because those  who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

See . . .I've been lucky enough or smart enough (depending upon your perspective) to find others who had a long term vested interest in my children to be part of the 'child rearing team'. . .some of whom happened to be their child care providers.

And I disagree with you that children ONLY need parents.

I'm not going to argue with you that different muscles are exercised during breastfeeding, but to contend that there are whole generations out ther walking around with malformed jaws is a bit extreme.

Now care to address your contention that only bottlefeeding causes tooth decay?

i was pretty happy with my 18 month old dd saying "tyrannasauris rex", and "actually", and speaking in complete sentences. she was bf for two months with some supplementing to total ff at two months. all three of my kids are adults now and have no malformations of the mouth/jaw and no speech problems.

all you say is probably true to a degree but society falls to hard, hook, line and sinker when it should be taken as informational and with a grain of salt. its nothing but a scare tactic by militant breast feeding advocates to new moms.

AND i repeat. ITS A CRAP SHOOT!

So what?

I don't understand your agenda. Are you trying to convince people that BFng is better? If so, then there are better ways to do it. Are you trying to convince people that BFng definitely is better in terms to jaw development? Then your "data" isn't data. Besides, why would you try to convince people of this? Is it *that* important to you?

I just read your posts (yours and Eileen's) to Dh and he was very flattered. Oh, and he said momofhk's post was "bull." It's very difficult to study this. There's no science behind the claims of those doctors who support breast feeding mainly because there would have to be a longitudinal study and there is no way to control all the variables that could affect the outcome. If you wanted to study a cross section of the population you'd have to say, take all 10 yos and all the different types of ortho problems and find out who was breast fed and who was bottle fed, but still that would not conclusively determine if their ortho problems were in any way related to how they were fed as infants. Medical drs. have not studied this and their claims that being bottle fed could result in jaw or dental problems is unsubstatiated by science.

Excuse me, but isn't your daughter in school being taught by a teacher other than you (of course when you volunteer, yada yada yada) but still being TAUGHT by someone else than yourself.
